Talk about hating yourself.  In Lodi v. Lodi, 173 Cal. App. 3d 628 (1985),
the plaintiff moved for default judgment, which the trial court denied. The plaintiff appealed. Appellate court dismissed for failure to state a cause of action, and declined to award costs of appeal to either plaintiff or defendant stating, "we believe the equities are better served by requiring each party to bear his own costs on appeal."
